The 2024 annual meeting will be held June 29 from 11 am - 1 pm at the Lansing Center. The Center is in downtown Lansing, Michigan, just two blocks from the Michigan State Capitol at 333 E. Michigan Avenue.
We will have time starting around 10:20 am to socialize, pay dues, and purchase great EMC merchandise. So please come a little early and see what is happening.
Following the meeting, there will be a field trip (about 30 miles/ minutes away) to Meridian Baseline State Park, led by EMC member Brian Reynolds. This is a great place for county collectors and geography buffs! Meridian Baseline, a unique and beautiful park – preserved for its historic value – designates the spot where all township, range and section measurements begin for the entire state. The park features a 1.4-mile, out-and-back trail where visitors can see two monuments that are the basis for all land surveys in Michigan and parts of Ohio.
SEE YOU IN MICHIGAN!
Annual meetings have been held each summer since 1973. (The only exception was the 2020 meeting - scheduled for Tulsa, Oklahoma - that was canceled due to Covid-19).
Annual meetings generally last about 2 hours. Do people drive across the country for a 2 hour meeting? Yes, we do! We are Extra Milers!
Plan Ahead for Future Meetings
2025 - July 12 In Tulsa, Oklahoma
2026 - July 18 in Fort Wayne, Indiana
2027 - July 17 in St. Cloud, Minnesota
It's never too early to start planning a great county-bagging route for your travels in future years.
Most annual meetings are followed by a field trip to some interesting nearby geographical point. It may be a special county line, a state tri-point, or some other unique geographical place. Some field trips are structured, while others are more individual. The field trip after each meeting usually lasts about 2 hours.
