Annual meetings have been held each summer since 1973. (The only exception was the 2020 meeting - scheduled for Tulsa, Oklahoma - that was canceled due to Covid-19).
Annual meetings generally last about 2 hours. Do people drive across the country for a 2 hour meeting? Yes, we do! We are Extra Milers!
Each annual meeting is followed by a field trip to some interesting nearby geographical point. It may be a special county line, a state tri-point, or some other unique geographical place. Some field trips are structured, while others are more individual. The field trip after each meeting usually lasts about 2 hours.
The 2022 annual meeting will be July 23, in Hampton, Virginia at the Hampton Roads Convention Center, 1610 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, Virginia 23666. (The room number won't be known until the week of the meeting, and will be posted here and on our Facebook page.) At 10:30 am (as soon as ALPCA completes their business meeting) there will be social time, with opportunities to purchase EMC merch and pay your dues. The meeting starts at 11 am and will end around 1 pm. A short field trip, led by President Reid Williamson, will follow.
This year, we will be holding elections for President and Vice President, and will have the regular recognition of members who have reached county milestones. There will also be time for members to give short updates on their county travels, and maybe a prize or two.
We hope you can make it! If you have additional questions, please contact us at extramilerclub@live.com
Plan Ahead! The 2023 meeting will be July 1 in Denver, Colorado. The 2024 meeting will be in Lansing, Michigan and in 2025 we will try again for Tulsa, Oklahoma. It's never too early to start planning a great county-bagging route for your travels in future years.
